| Complaint: I have this game, Civilization IV, that keeps shutting down (coincidentally, whenever my civilization is flourishing, it seemed to shut down most often).
Example: Recently, I was ruling the Spanish when it happened again. All my cities were flourishing, and Barcelona was our main seaport. I was researching the compass and was soon to set sail for America. Then it shut down.
Example: I was being the Ottomans, I just captured Constantinople from the Byzantines. I was soon to invade Athens and Arabia to the south. Then it shut down
Example: I was being the French, around the 1500s, I finally built Notre Dame (which is really hard to build - the Dutch always build it first), and I was sending a caravel to the Americas so I could establish some colonies. Then it shut down.
Example: I was being the Vikings, very early in the game (around 700), when I decided to invade the Celts in Scotland. The invasion was a success, and I burned Inverness. I soon had Denmark, Sweden, and Norway to call home. I just researched optics and I was soon to discover America (this was around 1000). I just found Iceland and Greenland, and I was heading for Newfoundland (Then Vinland). Then it shut down.
Other Complaints: They really make the enemies in scenario mode tough in battle. They are almost impossible to beat them military wise.
Example: I was being the French. I built Norte Dame, and I had colonies in Louisiana, Quebec, and various parts of the Hudson Bay. The suddenly, the Portuguese and Germans attacked! I wasn't ready, so they took Lyons and Bordeaux easily. Then civil war struck. I lost my colonies in America, and all I had was Paris. Germans were coming, and I had nowhere to get help from. Then, the Germans attacked Paris. I was banished to the Netherlands. It was all over. | |

| You should save your game every so often, so this doesn't happen and you don't have to do it over and over and over and over and over and over again. | |

| Epic, that is good advice, but I don't think it helps here. This is a CTD error, which I ranted about before. For those of you who do not know what CTD means, it stands for "Crash To Desktop", which is when a game unexpectedly crashes, leaving no error message. But, again, that is good advice, save often. But time your saves right as well. When you just made a major breakthrough, save. When you're last city is under attack, don't save. (I made that error once in a game. Stupidest thing in a video game I've ever done.) | |
